ANAHEIM UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT

Learning With Purpose: College and Career Ready

2014-2015 A.U.H.S.D. After School Intramural Sports Program

The Anaheim Union High School District Board of Trustees is committed to providing a Junior High School Intramural Program with the intent to develop a curriculum appropriate with the physical, emotional, and social growth of adolescence. The purpose is to promote an after school sports program in which anyone may participate regardless of his/her skill level. The program will include On-Campus Intramural Competition and District Wide Tournaments in four seasons of sport.

Everyone connected with the after school sports program should remember that the purpose of the Intramural Program is to benefit the students - not the schools, the coaches, or the community. The overall goals of the Intramural Program are to:

·         Foster the value of competition without over emphasizing the        importance of winning

·         Improve positive citizenship traits

·         Develop well-rounded individuals capable of contributing to society

Students should be encouraged to participate in the sports for which they have interest regardless of ability, skill or experience. However, an All-Star Travel Team will be selected after 6 weeks of Intramural participation where team selection may be based upon:

·         The skill or achievement level of the individual

·         The needs of the group/team

·         Minimum grade requirement of 2.0 GPA

Schools may not charge a participation fee for the after school Intramural Program.

Students are encouraged to remember that participation in the after school Intramural Program is a privilege, not a right. Along with the privilege comes the responsibility to adhere to the student goals set forth in the after school Intramural Program.

Student Goals:

1.  Enable each student to participate in a variety of activities of his/her choice
